ANYWAY susan isn't the person he's closest to at all but i think he'd have grown to respect her over the years. he never had much of a strong personal opinion on her during MM1 beyond "dangerous obstacle" but i think being on the same side and seeing what she could do to further their cause would have generally put him in the mindset of a positive opinion! AND YEAH LIKE I SAID +100 appreciation for susan when he gets back... because he really missed her sensible sour face and her dry wit god susan he had to sit through potato races he was suffering. i don't think he'd consider her a friend necessarily, but he'd still risk himself for her safety because he's extremely loyal to the group on a whole and he'd probably do what he could if she ever asked for anything like med training or sword training or learning japanese or w/e.

Susan will probably recognize that Kaoru has grown to be less of a jerk but some part of her will always resent the whole May situation. I think her appreciation of Kaoru will depend a lot on the degree to which May can recover from what he did. That said it's not like she's petty or anything (ok no she is, but not with this) so he'll just be treated more or less normally after a while and he can learn ridiculous Discworld things if he wants to...

but yes good he'd be totally interested in learning about things like that! ALL THESE NEAT WORLDS and he got stuck with fantastical racism ye olde japan, gosh. if nothing else he is a very good student and quick learner, so that will at least be slightly less of a headache for susan.
